ANDREW TUTUPOLY
I am a Chicago-based filmmaker and visual artist working across film, photography, and moving image, with a background in graphic design. Currently studying Film and Photography at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, my practice investigates the relationship between time, memory, and emotional perception. I am interested in how ordinary moments become charged with meaning once they are remembered, reinterpreted, or placed at a distance.
Having grown up in Jakarta and now living in Chicago, I approach image-making through the lens of transition, place, and cultural memory. My work often focuses on atmosphere, texture, gesture, and the quiet details that shape how a moment is felt. Through cinematic and photographic forms, I explore how memory softens, distorts, and deepens experience over time. My practice becomes a way of returning to what has already passed, not to reconstruct it perfectly, but to understand the emotional presence it leaves behind.
